In June 2005 I was hired by the MIT music department to do some general web maintenance and to redesign their Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble websites.

I designed them keeping in mind that they don't get frequently updated by the student webmasters. The bulk of the content is static information that will never look outdated to people viewing the sites. The only section that is important to update is the concert schedule, which can be done once a year. There are other sections that should be updated, but won't look too bad if left static for a couple years. Frequently changing information such as member lists or rehearsal schedules are kept in the members-only section so that this utility is still possible if the student webmasters are active.

I also wrote a brief instruction manual for the webmasters on how to update the sites and perform other duties that may fall under their control.
